Lower Salt Creek
Logan Bottoms to Confluence of the East Fork of White River
This stretch of Lower Salt Creek flows very well except during periods of drought (Sept. and Oct. in
most years). This trip is especially interesting when plenty of water is being released from the
Monroe Reservoir Dam. A major contaminated sediment (PCB's) remediation project is currently
underway on the Pheasant Run tributary downstream of Peerless Bridge.

It takes approximately 6-7 hours to get from the Logan Bottoms to the landing at the Old St. Rd. 158
bridge. From the Old St. Rd. 158 bridge to the confluence of East Fork of White River takes another
three and a half hours - more or less. The last 1/4 mile of Salt Creek upstream of the confluence is
excellent fishing along the limestone bluff for Kentucky spotted bass, rock bass, walleyes, sauger
and assorted sunfish.

At the confluence of Lower Salt Creek and the East Fork of the White River is an ideal campsite at
the top of a fifty foot high bluff overlooking both streams. It is a bit of a dangerous climb with camping
gear but worth the effort. This exclusive campsite is private property so be certain to notify MHAO of
your desire to utilize it to gain access.
